My main responsibilities fall around data management and analysis. I have to maintain the team's various databases pulling out any issues I find in the data. I also have various admin tasks I have to carry out to aid the team's programme managers. I have been involved in various different projects including supporting at careers fairs, events management, creating surveys and writing various communications.
I have learnt how to work in an office which was a completely new experience for me. This has given me new skills in team work in an office environment. I have developed skills in project management which have aided the development of my communication and organisational skills. I have also learned to use new technologies which is what I'm most passionate about.
I enjoy the majority of my programme as it has taught me a lot about myself and taught me new skills which will benefit my future career. I have never known what I wanted to do for a career and this programme has helped me realise my passion.
Overall I feel fairly valued for my work however I notice some of my work goes unnoticed and therefore unappreciated.
The structure of the programme is flexible allowing you to mold it to your liking. This might be ok for some but I prefer a more structured approach with clear milestones so I can be organised for what I need to complete.
I receive a visit from my talent coach once a month which usually gives me plenty of time to discuss any issues.
My employer have supported me through personal issues I've faced whilst on the programme which I am so grateful for. I also feel free to attempt any idea I have.
It covers most costs however my travel allowance doesn't cover half of what my travel costs.
There are always volunteer opportunities outside of work which are shared with everyone.

Barclays is a terrific company with some incredible people. I truly feel that the people I've met in the company believe in the values of the company.
Think carefully if a career in the finance industry is for you. Look at all of the options available in the bank and you will realise not every job in banking requires you to be good at maths!
