The course involves a job rotation every 6 months within retail banking. Thie rotation starts as an essential banker, then moves on moment banker. There are optional rotations at this point, including operational banker and then we move onto assistant branch manager and then hopefully be the end of the course we will be in a branch manager role. So far I am still on the first rotation, which involves learning the basics of the bank, understanding the values and developing in a customer facing role.
I have developed my people skills and learnt how to deal with different individuals. I have a better understanding of the company, which has also been reinforced through the university programme, in which the assignments are focuses around Barclays.
I am enjoying the programme so far. The fort nightly study days are great to fit in all our uni work.
I do feel a valued member of the team and am thankful for the investment they are making in my my career.
The programme is in its ninth year, so I feel it is well structured through changes in the past. The study blocks do mean we are out of the business for long periods, but in this rotation it is not so much of an issue. I do feel managers could be given more info on the programme to better support us.
The university is great and we receive a lot of help
Managers are not also fully aware of what the course entails, so I think this is an area to develop
The salary is average but I am aware of the uni costs and other investments, which are more than average
The company have many network and events that can be attended to build networks and understand the company.
Yes
The staff benefits are really good and there are so many areas to move into. If you were unhappy in your current position there are opportunities to move into. Also the training is regular yourself
Be yourself, demonstrate the five values and be ready to put your all in
