  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My Job title is a Market Data Administrator. My Daily tasks involve using information from HR records to monitor our market data database, managing different user's market data and making sure their access is running correctly. As well as this I am currently helping with reports for month end. I have daily interactions with Vendors such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters as well as internal interactions with my team especially team meetings which occur every 2 weeks. I am responsible for marking leavers outside of Asia in our database as leavers and managing their market data whilst updating relevant spread sheets.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Throughout my time here I have been on many internal training courses such as Level 1,2,3 Microsoft Excel, power pivot, outlook and many more. I have also been to external vendors such as Bloomberg and Thomson Reuters in the City to train on their terminals and applications. As part of my apprenticeship , we are given mandatory training, this includes things such as learning communication skills, negotiating and presentation skills. I have learnt so far how to deliver a presentation correctly and use the appropriate language.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme in many different ways. My team that I am in are all very supportive and friendly, they are all willing to answer questions whenever I have one and will never not help me with anything I may need help with. The company is such a good company to work for, there is always different opportunities such as training and networking events. The programme has met more than my expectations, the only thing I think could be more beneficial is maybe the introducing of apprentice meetings.

  • 4. How valued do you feel by Fidelity International?
  • In the sense about how valued I feel by Fidelity is overall good. Appreciation from my manager is good and I am always getting good feedback from other members within my team. Internal recognition has improved due to people knowing who I am now and saying hello. I am currently involved in a project on-going which includes working with other members of my team and using my knowledge where necessary.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme overall is very well structured in the sense that the induction days were a good way of seeing the company and others who we may be involved with. Training can sometimes be very long and draining but is beneficial in the long run. I think there could be more support meetings / apprentice team meetings with mentors every month or two months to see how everyone is getting on.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Within my job role I receive a good amount of support from my manager. We are bothy very busy and whenever I get a chance to ask her questions she will always be willing to help. The HR team schedule 5 minute meetings every 6 weeks or so, I feel these could be more scheduled and face to face maybe as a apprentice team

  • 9. Would you recommend Fidelity International to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • I would recommend FIL to anyone, it is such a good company to work for and there is a lot of freedom and support within. You are able to experience the other offices and meet new people. Everyone is supportive and no one will think you are less just because you are younger.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Fidelity International?
  • Think carefully through the application, take your time and plan for your interview. Write a few notes so you do not come off track and stay calm. If you just be yourself and be honest, that is the best thing. With the assessment days- put yourself out there, do not hold back from getting involved and make sure you ask plenty of questions. No one will judge you, everyone has been there before.
