  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in Compliance and the team I am in is DOI and Reg K. My Daily tasks are usually the same every day but vary due to work load and team members. On a day to day basis, I do mainly regulatory reporting, Reg K trade approvals and daily metrics. The team is very fast moving, team work is important and making sure all deadlines are met throughout the day.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy the programme very much. I enjoy my job role and wouldn't want to have started in a better team. I am proud to work at J.P. Morgan and everyone is very supportive about you and your future. Within the apprenticeship there are loads of activities to get involved in to promote the programme and really get the most out of the apprenticeship. There is constant communication and support from the apprenticeship managers and also your team.

  • 5. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is very well organised and structured. We had a 2 week bootcamp before we started in the work place, which helped to feel settled and have an introduction to your jobs and J.P. Morgan. Support is consistent and there is always someone available for any concerns. Within my department I got given a mentor as part of the programme, which is beneficial to have that extra support and guidance. The programme is very focused on involvement from everyone and so you're not just left on your own to do your day to day work, you have extra responsibilities.

  • 6a. How much support do you receive from your training provider?
  • At the start of the programme the training provider was not structured very well and this caused a lot of problems and confusion. The weekly lectures are easily accessible but deadlines were not always correct. The apprenticeship managers were quick and helpful to sort any problems we had with the training provider and we now have reps from our apprenticeship to talk to the training provider with any concerns from us.

  • 6b. How much support do you receive from your employer?

  • 7. How well does your salary/package meet your costs?
  • I would say that the salary is fair. However moving down to Bournemouth I found the living costs (rent) extremely high and you cannot get a lot for your money. I find living costs difficult after all my bills have been paid, but I would say it is manageable, but I do go without things. I live in an expensive location so else where is cheaper but not as nice. J.P. Morgan have a private commuter bus, however it is expensive and does not include travel for the public buses for social after work, it is only during work hours from J.P. Morgan. Overall, although pay is tight sometimes, I don't mind because I am working at J.P. Morgan and the experience is invaluable.

  • 8. Are there many opportunities outside of work?
  • Opportunities outside of work are huge, with J.P. Morgan as a whole and also on the programme. There are many sports clubs/teams to get involved in and many events and volunteer work that you can support and get involved in.

  • 9. Would you recommend J.P. Morgan to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, it is a great company to work for, for the opportunities, progression and support. Experience from J.P. Morgan is so valuable and the knowledge and exposure you will get is unlike from another company. The programme is very well run and the fact that a company like J.P. Morgan offer an apprenticeship scheme is an opportunity you don't want to miss.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to J.P. Morgan?
  • Take every application process as it comes and focus on each round. Be yourself and show how determined and ambitious you are, and how much you really want to work at J.P. Morgan. Practice psychometric tests. Be keen and confident, make sure you push yourself out your comfort zone and try to get involved as much as possible.
