Surveying Assistant Review

I am a Surveying Assistant at JLL, i take on many day to day tasks and these can vary. I enjoy taking on responsibilities including going on inspections, creating maps and helping with the production of sales brochures.

I have gained many new skills including the use of other softwares that i had not come across before these include; Promap, Land Registry and Photoshop. I have also gained confidence with working in an office environment. I have been on many courses, both internal and external these included; introduction to property course, excel training and courses to help with confidence.

I thoroughly enjoy the programme, i get on very well with my team and feel like a valued member. I have gained a lot of experience with working in a large company and this is going to help me with my future career.

I feel highly valued at JLL, i have always felt appreciated by my manager, wider team and company. I have received recognition on many occasions whether it is a verbal 'thank you' or an email of gratitude.

The organisation of the programme could be improved as sometimes i felt that my time was wasted at college, on many occasions we went over things a couple of times because others were not present. At JLL the structure was superb, i had an induction of the first day which was very clear, i was given a lot of support and if i needed to take time away from work to get my studying done i was able to do this.

I received a lot of support from my tutor, if i ever needed help i could always email her and she would send me advise. She was also very good at teaching, the only weakness was the repetition of some college sessions. The tutor was also very positive and wanted to push all of the students towards passing.

My employer supported me throughout the course if i needed any help there was plenty of people that were willing to assist me. I was given time to study when i was approaching an exam or presentation.

As my job with JLL is based in London the cost of living is a lot higher and i have had to move out in to a flat. In my opinion if you are living with your parents, the salary is affordable, though if you move out it is quite tight. JLL do pay for your travel so this helps a lot.

I am part of the Royal Air Force Aircadets, so i am not short of things to keep me busy outside of work. I also live within walking distance of leisure centres and community centres. With work i attend many team events include birthday lunches, skiing trip and volunteering days.

JLL as a company looks after all their employees, there are so many different opportunities of developing skills and knowledge and they make this clear to you. I have been given experiences that i never thought i would, especially with being only 19 years old.

I would tell them to research the company before applying, i wasn't sure what they did and a company so large has so many aspects to it so it is worth doing some prior research to prepare. I would like to have been told what was expected of me as in dress, i had never worked before and wasn't sure what i was allowed to wear in an office, this would have helped make my first day less stressful.
