As an Apprentice Software Developer my role in the apprenticeship involves the coding an development of systems within sky. From day to day we use agile practices to forward the development of the current system we are working on as a team, with constant support in all things between members of the team. When working we have the same responsibility of a associate developer in that we have a task that must be finished, that I am carrying out.
I have developed my ability to work within a team, as well as my communication skills within a team. I have gained great skills in multiple programming languages, as well as developing my skills in the languages I already knew. My problem solving skills have been greatly improved.
I enjoy the program immensely, enjoying working within the team I am in and the people I am working with. The company is very good to us working here and we are extremely well looked after as employees
As an apprentice at Sky I feel Highly valued, as we work on actual sky projects that are relevant within the business and are being built to be used.
The programme is structured well, with an initial bootcamp to get you up to speed on all the knowledge you need for the work environment at sky. Throughout the apprenticeship you are supported well, with any issues being able to be sorted easily and quickly.
My training provider provides all support needed. They are highly accessible, with problems being able to be sorted quickly. They are very enthusiastic in supporting me in any way they can.
I receive large amounts of support from my employer, with any issues and problems I have being looked at quickly. I receive lots of support, with people wanting to support me.
My Salary is well above my current costs, with myself able to save 80% of it after living costs.
There are lots of company events that anyone can go to. With talks and such about lots of different subjects.
Yes
Because it is a very nice place to work at, with good people to work with. The support for employees is incredible and I enjoy working there everyday.
Be enthusiastic about the company and what you want to get out of the apprenticeship. Remember that it is not only a software engineering apprenticeship, but also a working position at Sky.
