I am a Buying Admin, I work mainly to support my Buying manager in the set up of product as well as interacting with suppliers to ensure stock as well as any admin issues which may have arisen
I am currently in the process of completing a Level 4 NVQ in Business Admin, I have also been on a number of internal courses to do with personal brand, time management, innovation and a introduction to the customer course. I have also developed a lot through my day to day interactions such as emailing suppliers and presenting in team meetings.
I enjoy the work I do as it has results which a large number of people will see, I am able to walk into a Tesco store or go on the website and see the products which I have worked on. I also enjoy the team which I am working in as they are all friendly and happy to help with any issues which I have.
I feel like the work which I am doing for my manager is appreciated and I am often given praise, other than my manager I do not get much other praise from other sources. However I do feel valued as I feel like I am making a difference to Tesco as a whole.
I had 2 induction days at the start of my programme which explained the structure and all development days and training. I have a buddy which is a fellow apprentice which provides guidance from experience, I also have a mentor which is usually a director who can give advice from a more senior position.
There are several development days and a quick responses to any queries over email. There is also a chance for making corrections upon the first submission of each task.
I get a large amount of support from my team and manager with all areas of my work.
The salary easy exceeds my costs, despite having to commute everyday
There have been a few social events which are run by the team as well as a work christmas party, on top of this there is an Early Careers society which runs several social events for both apprentices and graduates
Yes
There is a clear progression through the company which is well supported
Be yourself when applying and give your all during the application day, do not hold anything back in discussions as you cannot be assessed on what you don't say.
