I am currently a customer advisor (CA. My general day to day role is serving customers as a cashier on the counter, doing transactions such as transfers, payments, checking balances, paying in and paying out cash. I also frequently am out in the banking hall encouraging customers to use other ways to bank such as our IDM (paying in machine) and the IPAD to do online transactions.
I have developed my customer service skills by learning how to approach customers and meet their needs. I've recieved training on how to interact with vulnerbale customers, customers with cancer and abusive/angry customers. This has enabled me to develop skills that have improved my levels of sevice.
I enjoy my job day to day as i find it rewarding being able to help save customers money or show them how they can make their banking easier for them.I feel the apprenticeship programme has given me futher support in my role and helped ease me into the bank.
lloyds banking group are a really good employer as not only do they offer really good oppurtunities TO progress career wise but there are great benefits available such as colleague offers and oppurtunities for bonuses.
I see my trainer prodiver once every month and i am emailed out the work i need to do. I think it could be slightly improved by having a definite date each month that i am seen and to always have my work emailed out on the day i am seen by my trainer so i know exactly what i need to do for when. For example with this months meeting i am not sure when it will be and i dont know what work i am supposed to be doing.
I usually recieve a good amount of support from my trainer during my sessions. Sometimes it can be difficult in terms of communicating as i'm not sure soemtimes what work needs to be completed for when and sometimes my visits from my trainer are arranged last minute so i feel i would benefit from a better structure.
I feel very supported in my role at my branch as my colleagues are all willing to provide help and support to me. I feel supported also by LBG as there are unions avaible to join and there are sevices such as speak up which provide me with the oppurtunity to speak to someone outside of the branch if i needed extra help. They also offer a 24/7 councelling help line, which although i have not used, i think is a really good service for employees.
I think my salary is good for an apprenticeship as normally apprenticeship wages arent great.
LBG provides lots of good opportunities e.g. being able to volunteer in the local community.
