My role as an apprentice is cross functional. I get to see different areas of the business and decide which areas suit my skills best. I'm currently in the business area.
I have learnt lots of technical knowledge in my work which I would not have before. I have also developed more interpersonal skills.
I do enjoy the majority of my apprenticeship as I get to work with like minded individuals in the same industry that I am in
I feel very valued by Cisco. The reason for that is because we have an input into what goes on within the scheme. We also have a say in other aspects
Our programme is structured for the most part. It needs to scale slightly better and offer what is advertised. It needs job security at the end with a clear career path
I receive lots of support from our training provider. We have monthly meetings as well as always being contactable via email and other communication
Our employer is very supportive through schemes such as the mentorship programme and other aspects. We could have slightly more help with easing into the business with how it operates
Our salary is very competitive and we do get company benefits. It could be slightly greater as we do offer the company a whole range of skills which could be advertised.
We do lots of community social responsibility but it is not always evident. Because of this we could work more with smaller companies so we see the difference
Yes
It is fun where I work but also hard work. As long as they want to be a part of this changing industry and have a passion also
Be yourself and be ready to learn. It is a big step in a global organisation which does not have the standard set of rules of a business which is less consumer based
