I am a Business Apprentice currently working in facilities and IM&T. Any queries about our facilities on site I will deal with, as well project managing the refurbishment of our facilities.
I have developed management skills and improving my organisation has been a key part of that. Completing my apprenticeship will give me my NVQ Level 3 qualification in Business Administration.
I really enjoy the programme that I am on. It feels like and you are treated like an adult and a normal employee. Not an apprentice. I get on well with the team I work in which helps me to enjoy my job even more.
Very valued. Apprentices are made to feel important by BAE Systems and this is a great part of their learning. As mentioned earlier you are made to feel like a normal employee by being given important jobs.
The programme is well organised, you always know where you are up to on the programme and any work you may have outstanding. You also know any training you need to complete.
The training providers give you as much support as you need. Whenever you need any guidance they are happy to help you, whilst also letting you do the work independently so they are not giving you too much help.
You receive plenty of support from your employer. Every manager that I have worked for so far have been very accommodating and always happy to help with any requests I have. The guidance received has been excellent.
At the start the salary/package wasn't great but as I am getting through the apprenticeship this is improving. Which in turn is making it easier on the living costs.
There are many opportunities outside of work. You can volunteer for ambassador events in school, charity work, classes etc. There are also activities run at lunch times and after work like 5 a side football and meditation classes.
Yes
I would recommend BAE Systems to a friend because of all the perks of working for them as well as it being a very secure place to work in terms of job safety. They really value apprentices which is a big factor.
To be yourself and not be daunted by the whole process of applying. It can be quite long and the interview can be a scary thought but there is nothing to worry about. There are many opportunities for development as well within BAE Systems.
