Supporting the Capability team in HR with any administration duties for example, raising PO's booking meeting rooms and also travel arrangements
During the apprenticeship I will be doing a business qualification and a CIPD. I have already got a level 3 business when I did this for A Level so I don't think I will be learning much here. However, I will learn when doing the CIPD. In terms of work that I am doing for my day to day job, I have not learnt much.
The programme is not challenging enough and I am not doing much that involves HR which I thought I would be doing. I do really like the team that I am in but sometimes, I do not feel valued and I feel like I will need to go back to university to fit in and be taken seriously.
I like being in my team and enjoy the people, but I feel like to be a valued team member that contributes to tasks and projects and is taken seriously I would need to get a degree.
I feel like I have been hired to just cover maternity at the moment and after that, I am not sure what is going to happen. In that sense, it has not been organised structured well and there is a lot of uncertainty. The programme could have been thought out a lot better. For example, rotating in the different areas of HR to get relevant experience needed.
So far, the support from the training provider has been okay. I know that if I did have a big problem, I can contact my assessor. At the same time, it is hard to get hold of her sometimes as she does not reply to my emails most of the time.
I get study time each week which my manager is flexible about. E.g she is happy for me to do this at work or at home. I also know that I can go to her and other people in my team if there is anything I am struggling with.
The salary is good for me as an apprentice as I do not have much travel costs. Also, you would expect this wage for an apprentice in London.
I am in the social team and there are quite a lot of social opportunities in HR and in the wider business for charity.
No
I not recommend the DLG apprenticeship scheme as I have had a very bad experience however, I do still think that it is a good company so for graduates I think it would be a better experience.
Research the role and at the interview get confirmation about what the role actually is, as I thought I was applying for a HR role but actually I was hired to cover maternity leave admin/ PA which is not what I want to do.
