I work in a bank helping customers with their day to day banking needs. I am primarily in the banking hall or on counter - so often the first face customers see when they come through our doors.
During my apprenticeship, I have developed my skills particularly in the types of questions I ask. The workbooks have made me more aware of the best questions to ask for the answers I need in order to help me help my customers.
I always enjoy learning new things, and the programme has helped me to devleop my skills further. it has also allowed me to think more deeply about the different situations I am faced with in the bank and the different ways I could deal with them. I particularly enjoyed researching the different types of learners and being able to pin point different members of my team to certain types of learners or a mixture of a few.
I feel quite valued. There are a lot of benefits to working for LBG, but I have to say I feel more valued by my branch in Northallerton far more than I feel valued by the group.
I would say it is pretty well organised, the workbooks are straight forward and manageable. It has been created in a way that it doesn't take up too much time away from my job, and I can complete them leisurely throughout the month.
Peter is a great trainer assessor. He always makes sure I understand everything properly, and goes over anything if I don't. He clearly enjoys his job and takes pride in everything he does, and always makes himself available if you need any extra help either by phone or email.
My branch is extrememly supportive, both of my managers make sure I have time if I need it to complete my workbook, or if I need to chat to them about anything they're always there.
My salary covers everything I need it to at the moment. There have been a few problems with my pay but it looks as if it has all been ironed out now.
I think you create yor own opportunities. At the moment, I am learning French and writing for a review site in my spare time. It's a lot to juggle, but I am happiest when I am too busy.
Yes
Lloyds Banking Group offers a great package, and the opportunity to progress through the company. A career could be waiting for you if you want it to be.
Be prepared for the horrendous vetting process. It takes a long time, and often feels like you're never going to get to the end of it, but you will!
