On a day to day basis I have to plan factory trials for new and developing products , I interact daily with the operations and planning teams to understand what the challenges are and what potentials solutions can take place ,On most days I have to do product analysis on trial products to give a clear picture of the performance of the product
I have learnt to improve my communication and planning skills , with working with many different departments .This has also allowed me to become more confident in my job role . I have developed my computer bases skills and systems through the job role , I have also been given the opportunity to work with companies on new technology which is looking to be used in the future .
I have enjoyed learning about how the technical part of the food industry operates learning many new skills through the programme , The programme has given me the opportunity to work as an individual as well as a team, I feel the programme has met my expectations and exceeded this is in certain areas
I feel I am valued by Bakkavor as since finishing the apprenticeship I was offered a permanent position , I feel my work is appreciated by my manager as I work extremely hard to get positive results , For customer visits I get recognition on how the product is and what can be done to Improve the product
I feel the programme is organised with the modules involved are split out and relevant to my job role , It also allows the suitable amount of time and study as well as take time out to review the modules completed . Overall the programme is well organised by the group and would recommend this to new starters
Once at the college I received a lot of support from the tutors and got advised during the sessions , I did not received any problems , however once off the campus I had minimal support where I had to complete the work / I tried calling the tutors on many occasions I found it difficult to get in contact with the tutors
I feel I received a lot of support from my manager and senior manager who understood what the course involved . I received good support from the group HR team and talent advisory team who kept contacting me once in a while to check on my progress , In general the business had a great attitude to training people up from my personal perspective
The salary offered was very good for an apprentice so I had no complaints about the salary . The travel cost is not to bad for me as I live locally to the business . Special costs like hire cars are payed for by the business which is great when you have to go to the customer for a product review which can take a couple of hours to get there . The travel costs can also be put on expenses when travelling for business use
There are initiatives available outside of work however these are not sometimes communicated very well by the internal HR teams . I lived locally to the campus so I had the luxury of going home at the end of each campus day . Some apprentices came from other side of the country where they were give local accommodation as well as travel expenses all sorted and payed for .
