I`m an apprentice working in the Operations department in Nomura. What I`m currently doing is looking after two trade reports, producing a documentation for a dashboard and managing two projects. One of the projects is to create a new layout for the Nomura`s "Sports, Arts and Social" newsletter and the other project is the layout of the website for Nomura`s" Sports, Arts and Social"
Each day I learn something new from my manger or colleagues. Nomura also has opportunities for me to develop in my career. The department I work for also has their own set of training courses. My apprenticeship provider also have training courses once every month with additional support from tutor and assessors.
What I enjoy the most working at Nomura is the culture of the company. Also there are many ways to network with other people in the firm.
At Nomura I do feel appreciation from my manager. He gets me involved with various projects. Also with apprentices have a good recognition within the company.
The structure of the organisation is well organised. From the beginning of the apprenticeship the induction was clear and everyone made me feel welcome. Apart from my team there are many people that can give me the support I need.
With my assessor she will visit me every 6-8 weeks to talk about my course work and answer general questions I may have. The tutor I have sending them an email works for me. If my assessor is not available then my tutor is the next person I go to for help.
My manager is very supportive of me and approachable person. I feel comfortable to ask him anything. The HR there is someone I can speak to if I have any problems. Also my mentor is another person to ask questions at work and guide me what I should do.
The location I live in at the moment is not to bad, in terms of the journey. It`s only the cost of travel can be too much. I`m living with family but to move out now it`s unrealistic because most of my money will be for rent.
There are many events within the company to attend.
Yes
It`s a great place to start your career and build up the connections. Also the location of where the office is and the benefits (i.e gym, rooftop restaurant, tickets for events etc...
Before I started my apprenticeship, I would of wanted to know the other teams/departments in the firm. Also the opportunities I may have when the programme is finished.
