In my day to day role I must service any customer needs that are required from a front line member of staff, this could include: balances, transfers, complaints, providing information on products and services and many more.
As I joined barclays when I left school, I feel that it has not only helped me mature and develop my personal skills and customer service, but has taught me virtually everything you would need to know about day-to-day banking needs.
My programme is rather enjoyable, I would prefer if there were more people I know on it, but the work set is not too difficult, although it is still challenging.
Barclays has made me feel like a valued employee since day 1. As mentioned above; I started at 16 and I have always had support from anyone who I needed it from, I was never treated any differently because of my age.
As my assesser has a large number of apprentices this can sometimes prove challenging to organise meetings (at no fault of her own). Although the structure in theory is brilliant, due to the lack of assessors, it can sometimes be difficult.
My training provider is always prepared to help me when needed, I always have the opportunity to email her or call her if I need support. She has always had my interest as her priority.
My employer does offer brilliant support, but sometimes it can be a bit of a challenge having to get them to provide support, as if it is busy, I can go potentially weeks at a time with no support.
My salary I believe is very generous. I do not know anyone else my age who is on the same salary as myself. I do not have to worry about any finances at all which assists my learning as I am not stressed about it.
There are many different opportunities outside of work. Barclays offers a citizenship programme where you can volunteer to take part in activities such as a tea and teach where you assist the elderly with technology. They also often go into schools to assist pupils with life/money skills.
Yes
I would definitley promote barclays to anyone I know as the learning is brilliant and the salary is above any similar jobs. Barclays has always helped my development since day 1.
If you join barclays, do not be shy and keep your head down, let your voice be heard and get to know people, as it not only makes your day easier, it helps with progressing internaly!
