My job role was effectively to act as a junior researcher, assisting trainee lawyers in different departments. This involved being set a number of research tasks by the relevant supervising trainee - all of whom were very friendly and approachable.
I was able to further my capacity as a researcher, and was able to develop my opinions well. Additionally, the feedback I received from my supervisors helped to sharpen my analytical skills.
The days felt very long and slow-paced, but I think that this was in virtue of the legal environment. Whilst the experience was thoroughly educational, I think that I am personally suited to a more fast-paced environment.
I was given significant praise for the completion of my tasks by my supervisors. However, some supervisors were incredibly busy and the contact I had with them was limited. I felt that this was a result of poor organisation by the programme's hosts.
The induction was very well done, and well presented. I felt that the training section of the programme was incredibly exhaustive, and went into far too much detail for a work experience programme. We had an overly enthusiastic IT manager who was insistent on inundating us with superfluous information on the grounds that it interested her, and that put me off a lot. The programme was ultimately decently structured, and we had tasks for each day.
My supervisors tended to be very helpful. I received help throughout the duration of each day, with hints and tips to ensure that I was going in the right direction. Support was very easily accessible.

The people at Pinsent Masons were a delight, and are the type of people I would definitely want to work with.
