My current role is in CPB Coverage. This involves supporting Relationship Managers. This includes carrying out service calls to customers, preparing for meetings by creating agendas, communicating with other teams to provide best service for customer. At times, I can be left to do the same mundane tasks such as sending financial accounts for keying.
Learnt how to interpret financial accounts and working towards my professional bankers certificate. I am developing my communication skills by having conversations with customers while assisting with their day to day banking as well as during service calls.
I have enjoyed my programme so far, the work has been varied at times and repetitive at others. I've been given the chance to take control of my workload and projects. The team I work with have been great giving me plenty to do and very friendly and welcoming.
I have been internally recognised by my manager for good customer service and feel appreciated by the team I work with. I get involved with workload, often taking the more mundane tasks away from RM's to allow them to serve the customers better. Worry with all the changes and redundancies, however, that it might be a last in first out way to let staff go.
I felt the induction was structured well if not a bit long over two whole days. I have a mentor who supports me well and we have regular calls which are diarised in advance. My studying would be organised if I would stick to my plan but finding too much work to be done and not enough time to leave desk to study. I also have fortnightly 1-1 meetings with my line manager.
The tutors on online live classroom are ok they tend to just repeat the textbook instead of explaining further so could be more helpful but help and guidance is easily accessible by phone and email.
My Manager and mentor and very supportive, not just with work things but also personal things. Manager is very willing to help with studying if I need it and also devised a training programme to help me learn the systems when I first started.
Overall the salary package meets my costs ok, do think that the package such as disability cover that comes out the value account package should be optional as it reduces my payable salary by a couple of hundred pounds a year but I also see the value in this. This is RBS wide not just for my level. Social costs are restricted because of this but overall budgeting to cover everything makes it meet all ok.
There are company hosted customer events in an evening and at weekends but I have not been invited to any of these. I volunteer outside of work which I can apply for RBS community cashback who will pay the charity £250 once I have volunteered for 80+ Hours. Due to location cant get to many company activities as the are in different cities 3+ hours away.
Yes
Overall very supportive team I work in and other teams I've worked with. However, due to my location, opportunities are limited so would recommend more to those in England or in Central Belt Scotland.
Read the blurb about what the job entails. Do your research. Try to get some experience doing voluntary/paid community work or working with public. Expect there to be a long application process and interview. Most important would be research company and the role.
