Every morning we have a stand-up with the team where we each say what we did the day before and what we plan to do the same day. We then go on with our tasks such as software development or support.
I definitively have! Working close-by with skilled programmers I've been learning from my mistakes and constantly improving my knowledge.
It is to be said that the programme requires a lot of energy to be put into between university and work. However, the knowledge gained is priceless and worth the effort.
Right from the beginning you get included into the team as another peer and your opinion will be asked and valued. On top of that, there are lots of opportunities to get external recognition from other departments.
Being a relatively new programme, certain things are not yet clearly defined leaving a bit of uncertainty around them. I'm confident that these points will be clarified during the course of the programme.
We have weekly labs and tutorials supporting our lectures modules. Peer Assisted Study Sessions are also being held weekly, giving us enough opportunities to get help where we need.
The support network is huge! Starting from the immediate co-workers whom you can always ask questions to, internal training session are held and those are sometimes run by external providers specialised in the field.
Personally most of my salary is spent on rent, as the prices in London are pretty high. However, I'm still able to fit into the budget and the best part is that all of the university tuition fees are covered.
The university organises various activities outside our normal hours and of course there is a broad choice of societies that you can join.
Yes
The working environment is really dynamic, during the day you might find yourself working with other employees across continents and you will take part at various meetings.
I would suggest to consider if this is really the path that you want to pursue as you'll certainly do better if you are motivated towards it!
