I am a community essential banker; in my day to day role I am working either in the baking hall, on the counter, or on the deferred till in he counting house. I have customers deal with queries, and also point them to the specific specialists if I am unable to solve their problem.
I have improved my customer service skills immensely whilst working at Barclays. I have learnt how to work the deferred till, balance the QSP's and ATM's, and other operational behind the scene skills.
I do enjoy my programme however sometimes feel it is forgotten I am still on the programme and an apprentice therefore would occasionally like more management support and consideration for the work I have to put in behind the scenes, such as revision.
I do feel valued by Barclays as I have combinations and codes, and have access to be a key holder, which is more responsibility than some that have worked here for years.
I believe it is well organised; it is clearly laid out what you have to complete and the time frame you have to complete that within, and the qualifications you will receive as a result of my work.
I frequently have phone calls with Brenda, and she has made it clear I can contact her via email or phone at any time if I was to have any questions I wanted answering.
I receive support from my employer regarding my work life, however I would like more support when it comes to the actual apprenticeship scheme.
Very well, I feel the wage is good for an apprentice.
Not as many as I would like as I am keen to progress quickly within Barclays so would like more opportunity to follow and explore different pathways.
Yes
It is a friendly environment to work within but everyone does work hard. When we pull together we are a successful team, and with the help of lovely approachable management, I would recommend Barclays.
Ensure you have previous customer service experience even if to a small degree, as it is a big step in moving from a school environment into a full on working environment.
