Assistant Quantity Surveyor. Sub-contract management, monthly valuations, contract administration, variation pricing, procurement, internal financial reporting.
Internal commercial training courses & part time university course. Learn more through my experience at work than university. Uni is more focused towards the PQS profession.
Enjoy the working culture in construction and have a great team on site. Exceeds my expectations. Definitely prefer this in comparison to full time university.
As I am on a programme I feel like I am valued based purely on how long I've been there and the rewards and dictated this way. In my day to day role I feel like I am valued a lot by the appreciation of others and the responsibilities I'm given. Unfortunately this isn't reflect in the rewards.
Week long induction and quarterly modules give the programme a very useful structure.
Not huge amount of support but I get more important support from those I work with in my team therefore the support I get is sufficient.
Huge amount of support from my employer.
My wage includes my travel costs and meets my social & location costs. But not enough to start saving for the next step in life, ie buying my first home. Salary/package is less than similar companies offer to people in my position.
Lots of opportunities outside of work including company events and giving back to the community but not in terms of regular sports event.
Yes
Great company to work for in terms of getting exposure to the industry and the profession. They give you great support during your learning. Unfortunately they are not the best in terms of salary and you can earn more elsewhere.
Be confident during your application process (incl. interview and assessment day). Make sure you are fully aware of the role you are applying for and you have researched the company. Try your best to stand out as there are huge numbers of applicants but only a limited amount of vacancies.
