Learning and Understanding how a project works. (Project lifecycle) Honed Management Skills How to use pressure to get results How to read and understand the technical aspects of building.
I enjoy being involved in a line of work with a tangible product, with very evident and marvelous results that will stay with you for life. The culture within the apprentice team is very motivating.
Depends who your line manager is. Some are too busy to properly support you or may not really help much. Internal recognition is very limited. Recognition from Project is noticed, but not sure if appreciated much.
Programme is very well structured and organised. However you do not have much say in what kind of project you go to first, and how long you want to spend there. However paths of progression are very good. There is opportunity to complete the apprenticeship early if you complete all competencies in the portfolio. However this will entirely depend on the type of project you land on at first. Can be seen as a luck of the draw.
The apprentice training programme with the mace Business School is very useful and aims to engage everyone no matter which sector you are in. It shows all the different stages of building on different projects. Going to other sites is very interesting and is a real eye opener.
Manager does not give much support. HR team answer any and all questions I have. Attitude of other members of the team to support me is very good
Salary is very good. The wage structure progressing through the years is fair and I am sure there is opportunity for more money if you prove you are worth it. Be wary that your university grades affect your end of year review. So study hard.
Lots of networking events, Training courses Comms sessions.
