I am a Work Coach within the Jobcentre plus. On a day to day basis, I see customers to discuss and help move them closer to employment. I also sometimes deal with employers and do a lot of admin work for fares for customers.
I am working towards a HNC and NVQ Level 4 in Business. I have also had training for interviewing skills and in house Civil Service training so that I understand Universal Credit. I also feel that this role has boosted my confidence and customer service skills.
I enjoy my work but it can sometimes get a bit boring as it is repetitive. The qualification has been stressful but I have also learned a lot of different information.
Within my role, I feel valued through internal recognition schemes and also from other colleagues who appreciate the work that I do and help I give throughout the office.
The programme to start with wasn't well communicated as we had an induction then were just left to it. With only half a studay day a week, it can be quite difficult to get all studying required done in this alloted time. The support has been okay but could have been better.
The support recieved from our HNC tutor is quite limited as they don't tend to respond to emails in a timely manner. Our first NVQ tutor didn't offer that much support but our new NVQ tutor is much more approachable and explains things well.
I feel that my employer offers plenty of support and is happy to offer extra support to complete my apprenticeship. I also feel supported by colleagues within my office.
The salary is excellent for an apprenticeship. It was over my expectations when I first started and has allowed me to get my own car and move out of my parents house and live on my own.
There are few company oppurtunities outwith work but when they are on, they are well attended and good fun.
Yes
The pay package is excellent and the apprenticeship offers excellent oppurtunities due to the qualifications you gain and also the experience you get.
The application process is lengthy but wait it out and take your time when applying. If you have questions, ask them as everyone started off at the same stage.
