I am an Engineering Apprentice whos role is to fix and maintain different parts of machinery within the factory, i am also responsible for overseeing new equipment into the factory while learning at college relevent skills i need to problem solve.
i have learnt many skills, including tig-welding, electronics, electrical installation, mechanical operation, hydraulics and pneumatics.
i very much enjoy my programme, learning new skills every week is very rewarding and not every day is the same, my programme consists of various topics in engineering and puts me across a range of subjects that are very interesting.
very valued, i work closely in the engineering team to achieve our goals and feel an important figure, i am asked to do various tasks on my own which gives me alot more confidence and am high praised when i have done something well
my college courses were very benefical and taught me across a number of subjects, training is always constant at bakkavor and they try to put you on as many courses as possible to keep improving youre skills, we reguarly meet up to discuss how everything is going and see where things can be improved.
myself, college and bakkavor meet every 12 weeks to discuss and set targets within my apprenticeship, we discuss any problems i might have and how tasks have gone that i have recently undertaken.
bakkavor helps me very well as a business, they supply me with the tools and training i need to progress through my apprenticeship, they also help me if im having any problems or dont quite understand anything they will have the time to show me and make sure im 100% confident with it.
money goes up every year, which is nice, it is standard apprenticeship wage which is what you expect when learning as well, you do get paid petrol money to attend college which is very good.
bakkavor runs alot of charity raising events which is nice, last year we did absailing for 'EACH' charity, bakkavor also gets cheaper memebership at the leisure centre which is great if you enjoy swimming and going to the gym.
