I am a technology apprentice within the Group Treasury Subsidiary in Prudential - Prudential Capital (but am on the M&G Apprenticeship Scheme). My daily tasks involve release management, deployment, application testing, a bit of coding and database analysis, writing and using SQL Queries with SQL Server, running the batches in Control-M, raising access requests, running out reports, writing meeting notes up and distributing etc... The list is endless! My job is extremely varied.
I have learnt a lot of new skills: How to write SQL Queries, VBA Code, C# language, HTML with JavaScript, how to undertake testing, how to use different tools such as Control-M or the Database schema Comparison in Visual Studio. I have developed my communication skills and ability to progress different pieces of work.
I really enjoy the programme and I have a very good team who are always helpful and a joy to be with. It definitely met my expectations going into the programme.
I feel extremely valued in my team as people are aware of my role and what I am capable and currently do to assist in the IT front of PruCap.I always feel needed and wanted, and feel like an important person within my team.
I am always aware of how everything is structured, which makes it easy to make a plan and stick to it. There is always someone available if I ever need support.
My training provider is always available on my personal apprenticeship online portfolio, on email or on call. I am always provided with feedback on any projects I do and documents to help me understand my programme and what I need to do to pass. They are always happy to help me when requested and I have a review with them every 2/3 months.
I receive a lot of support from my Manager, HR, my mentor, and my team. There is always someone I can go to if I have a question. Any problems I have gets addressed.
My salary is very generous. I have no issues covering any of my outgoing costs for my lifestyle.
I have found I have had many opportunities outside work. I have been able to attend many events, especially with Investment2020, where I have done speeches and panel discussions in front of different crowds. I have also been able to travel to India for business.
