As an apprentice, I mainly circulate with different groups going trackside, and usually observe what is being done, how and why. I then collate this information which allows me to learn. I try to get the most out of every experience by doing as much as possible and getting involved. Some days I may be able to get hands on, others I can only observe, but I try and learn something new every day.
I have not exactly learned any specific skills as of yet; rather a more in depth understanding of certain areas, such as maintenance, thatv I would not have been able to develop otherwise.
I enjoy this programme a lot. As everything else does, it has it's ups and downs, but I feel good to be able to help the company and the public by undergoing this training in order to work for Network Rail. I feel satisfied that I have achieved something after every day at work, so can only really say I am enjoying it.
I feel equally valued as all other members, that is, highly. Everyone treats me with respect, as in turn do I, and I find it incredibly easy to speak to anyone if I have issues. I am congratulated on my achievements and they always make a point of letting me know when I have achieved something.
Very; I always have something to do, and have been given timetables for specific training courses to allow me to structure my time effectively, knowing what I need to do and when.
A lot. I never have a problem with getting in touch if there is something wrong or I have any concerns, and they are committed to help me resolve any on-going issues to allow me to reach my full potential.
Again, I receive a lot of support every day, I am treated well and told what to do and how to do it. I could not ask for more.
Quite well. At this point in time, I have enough money to get by comfortably everyday, and still have some to spend or save. It is great for now and I trust it will only get better.
Not as I know of but then again, I am not involved socially with the company so cannot comment.
Yes
Great company, great benefits.
Work hard, never be afraid to ask question, enjoy yourself. It's not as hard as it seems if you apply yourself.
