Technical based engineering apprenticeship - Rotate around different departments of the business 4 months at a time, supporting day-to-day tasks and understanding business processes.
NVQ Level 3, HNC 2nd Year, Software Training (Autodesk, CATIA). Practical Skills/ Equipment Training - CNC, Lathe, Fitting, Pillar Drill, Riveting etc.
Always learning something new or developing new skills. Work can vary from office based jobs to more practical activities depending on the department.
Apprentices are given work that is beneficial to the department they are working in order to contribute to work load.
Apprenticeship is very well organised on the whole. Extensive training throughout and support is always available if needed.
Each apprentice is assigned a mentor throughout the apprenticeship period to provide support.
Every department that I have worked in has always been available for any guidance or issues I may have had regarding the apprenticeship.
Salary is very competitive compared to other apprenticeships that are available. Starting on roughly £11k with incremental pay rises throughout at different milestones.
Many opportunities available outside of work for those that are interested. Sporting activities, hosted events etc. Opportunity to travel overseas with work in UAE, Germany, Saudi etc, along with travel across UK to other BAE sites and air bases.
