My job title is Project Coordinator. My core daily tasks include Project reporting, project financials, resourcing. Daily interactions surround the core project management team as well as weekly interactions with one of our clients.
Through on the job training I have developed in numerous areas such as financial reporting, financial governance, client interaction. I have also improved my skills with regards to using the MS office suite. In terms of additional qualifications I have also undertaken a PRINCE2 foundation course.
I really enjoyed the sponsored degree programme, it was a good mix between study and professional work. Not only did I get to advance my academic skills but i was also able to get some work experience under my belt. Throughout the programme support was available when necessary and you were rewarded for good performance.
Since joining CGI i have received a number of CGI recognition awards both for my academic and professional achievements. I have recently received a promotion and am currently being supported towards moving into a new role. Given these aspects mentioned above, I would say that i do feel valued by CGI.
Throughout the programme you are assigned buddies, workplace mentors, people managers and line managers. All of which are aware of your position as an SDP member and help to accomodate that as much as possible. As part of the programme you are also allocated ample study leave in the final year of University which helps to ensure you can focus on your studies.
During the sponsored degree programme, numerous catch up calls were scheduled between the programme leaders and University representatives to discuss any issues. This was useful to ensure we were all aligned on expectations, as well as aware of the support network around us.
CGI provided numerous members of staff who helped to support the sponsored degree programme. For example buddies and workplace mentors. People managers are also available for any personal matters which may need immediate attention.
I think the structured pay scheme whilst on the programme is sufficient, however once you graduate its difficult to then term whether your final post-graduation salary is competitive in the market - particularly as we work in different sectors which have different benchmarking criteria.
CGI offers a good sports & social club which offers discounted events near your base office (or the areas you have opted in for). There are project events which happen once or twice a year which are good social occasions. There are also opportunities to volunteer at local schools and career events.
Yes
CGI's sponsored degree programme is a brilliant option for someone who would like the opportunity to both work and study. It's an intense programme but if you have the right work ethic and use the support network available it is definitely a scheme which you can accomplish and tailor to your own needs.
Having attended a number of assessment centres, the biggest piece of advice is to ask as many questions as possible. Really voice your opinion on your what sort of roles you are interested in and then we can find the right people to talk to you and provide appropriate advice.
