I'm an apprentice Rail engineer for high output track plant, which includes maintenance of the different systems within the company, there is a different situation every day making it a much more interesting job
I have learnt many new skills and am constantly learning with all the different situations that I have to deal with
The programme is quite good but can be a bit unorganised at times, majority of the time is enjoyable though
I feel quite valued at the moment as I understand that I'm in training which is incredibly important to my progression within the company
It is relatively well organised but there are occasions where things are sprung upon you
There is almost constant support during the training within the apprenticeship making it easier to learn
The employer is always open to talk to about any queries and will support you with any problems
The salary is a bit less than ideal for the hours you work but it does constantly improve per annum
There are a few courses outside of work available but not many as you have a lot of work to do in the apprenticeship anyway
Yes
It's a great start to a good career with constant support, the pay starts off low but you can start earning real money within a few years
Show the network rail behaviours and be yourself, focus and work hard on the work then there won't be any problems
