Our role varies from day to day depending on what our department is doing. We are given work by our line managers to help the efficiency of the department e.g. approving expenses, admin, attending meetings and taking minutes.
Since I've been here my IT skills have improved, especially Excel. I have learnt how to use different programs that are used within the organisation. My presentation skills have also improved greatly.
I enjoy the apprentice programme very much, it is a very good opportunity and is very varied. We get to move around different departments throughout the company and see how different departments operate.
I feel very valued by EDF Energy as they strive to put their staff first and ensure the welfare of the staff is to the highest quality. They are very friendly and welcoming and are easy to discuss any issues with.
This apprenticeship is the first year it has run, it has been well organised but due to the fact it is the first year there have been a few hiccups in the beginning but easily corrected.
During any training or college sessions, we are given a lot of support to ensure that we are fully understanding the course and the training. Making sure they are not going through the material too quickly and ensuring everyone is keeping up and understanding. Encourages questions to be asked.
Our employer supports us greatly with any issues that could arise and want us to enjoy our time working here. We are each assigned a mentor to give us one point of communication if there are any issues, personal or work related, but everyone is open to helping with any problems.
As an apprentice wage, we are paid well and our college and university courses are paid for so we do not have to take out any loans. They also help us with our travel expenses.
We have the option of flex benefits where we can get certain discounts outside of the office e.g. discount on cinema tickets, discounted gym membership. There are also lots of social events for the staff to ensure a good working relationship.
Yes
They are a brilliant company to work for and look after their clients and staff at a very high standard. They create so many different opportunities and want the staff to enjoy their time at work.
If anyone is unsure of applying to work with EDF Energy, I would definitely advise doing so. Working for them opens so many doors and it is the start to a real career instead of just a job. Everyone is very welcoming and happy to help which makes the normal working day enjoyable. On assessment days just be yourself as EDF Energy look at personalities and for people that are pleasant to work with, they are happy to teach all the skills to new employees.
