As a consulting analyst, from day one I was immersed in the project and became a part of the overall mission. I interacted with the client and fellow Accenture employees on all levels, not just other analysts.
I have learned how to use Excel more proficiently, as well as Splunk and basic coding knowledge in Git and .XML. These skills were taught from scratch and proved extremely helpful when working on my respective projects.
I enjoyed the programme as it provided a real-world look at the workplace and allowed me to get stuck into my projects as sufficient time is provided on both projects. The teams on both of my projects were extremely friendly and helpful when I had any queries/questions.
Feedback from both managers was provided informally on a day to day basis and more formally in a document at the end of the projects. I felt I was valued by my colleagues, not by explicit comments, but how my work was used to help the wider team.
The programme is structured by two four month projects, preferably in different client areas to gain a wider exposure to all aspects of Accenture. The first project is provided and you are advised to actively seek your second project as this may allow you to express any specific interests you have.
Support is very much given on the basis where you reach out to to your training provider and then they will offer you help. The accessibility of support is well communicated and although I didn't reach out during my time at Accenture, I'm sure if i needed help/support, I would have been helped out well.
All aspects of employer support are agin well communicated and reachable through the internal portal or on the phone. These were all explained on our induction week at the beginning of the programme.
As a gap year student, the salary was well received. You are expected to live in London as this will be your base and there in no reimbursement of travel or food within London. If you are put on an out of town project, accommodation and food is covered, which is very helpful.
There are many opportunities offered outside the workplace, which include pretty much all sports, general communities and team nights out. These are always well communicated and all inclusive which was a great part of working for Accenture. I had the opportunity to volunteer for three careers fairs during my time and also there are paid charity days which you are encouraged to take.
Yes
I would recommend Accenture to a friend as the sheer number of services offered and size of clients allow for a range of interests to be accommodated for. I feel it is a great place to work due to this and people from all backgrounds are welcomed and embraced as they all have something to offer.
Be sure to show a genuine passion for what you are interested in and also do some research on the company before your interviews/assessment centre. In addition, the ability to be concise and get your point across clearly is highly regarded.
