My role is as a Network Planner. I plan the supply of volume to M&S stores outloaded by Thatcham depot. I communicate with my depot every day and am tasked with maintaining solid relations.
The planning process and further use of microsoft excel. Also how to use planning programs used by Gist including Paragon, AS400, Microlise and various other planning and compliance programs.
I enjoy the programme a lot, this includes the people I work with and the work I undertake. Also the extra activities provided for apprentices (inductions/mentoring events etc) are very enjoyable and informative.
Very much so. Always get feedback from management, achievements recognised and I always get the chance to involve myself in projects and tasks. I definitely believe my work is valued and appreciated.
The induction was very well organised and informative, with Gist seemingly going the extra mile to make us feel settled and ready to undertake our specific roles. Training and support from managers and colleagues was also very good.
We're inbetween training providers at present due to First 4 Skills entering administration; but I would say the old provider was not up to scratch in the slightest due to poor organisation, poor communication and poor attitude towards our qualifications. I would say however that the new provider appears to be a lot more organised and efficient.
There are many different people in different departments we can approach for advice or help, be it our manager, mentor, HR team or apprentice manager and they are all happy to help and offer advice.
I personally struggle at present with my salary, often ending up in my overdraft due to bills and outgoings. But I do believe that is just my personal situation and we are paid pretty fairly for apprentices.
I play football and socialize as much as possible. I struggle to attend out of work meet ups and nights out due to how far away I live. Gist do provide a christmas party and numerous team events such as bowling etc
Yes
I would recommend Gist to a friend because they go the extra mile to help and train their apprentices and there is a general feeling of wellbeing and appreciation within the company.
Don't be intimidated by the application and selection process, it is designed to give you a taste of what the company is like and whether you would be a good fit for eachother.
