Involved in Wealth Asset Management. Overall I had to research things about the company and gain commercial awareness. Day to day basis was mainly researching. I had to also present my findings on Robotics in Banking and Finance. I also often had to write the timetable of the day for my team.
I have developed my research skills and analytical skills. I also gained organisational skills as I had to manage a lot of information and sort through research. I also developed my independence skills because I was mostly researching by myself and having to research things that were crucial for the company.
The work was mostly laborious and hard. I enjoyed the company of my team and they were very welcoming and always answered any questions I had. They didn't dump any work on me and allowed my to be mostly free and independent. The company seemed buzzing but also professional. I did not feel out of place as there was a welcoming environment. I expected a very boring environment but was pleasantly surprised. I for the most part enjoyed my experience, though there were some long stretches of boredom.
I did not interact with that many people outside of my group. I wasn't that involved in projects, possibly due to seriousness of task. I did feel that I was welcomed and greatly appreciated the company. The building was very open and so I could roam a round and take a break if I needed one. The staff in general were very helpful.
Once again, the staff at EY were very helpful. The application process was quite long and difficult. There wasn't a clear timetable during my work experience and I often struggled to contact my mentor. However, there was definitely something for me to do everyday.
I did not have a training advisor to speak to, therefore do not feel I had much training. The facilitators in week 1 did help in preparing us for the business experience week.
My employer was very helpful and always gave me advice and allowed me to ask questions. There were not overly serious and were chilled out. I didn't speak to any manager. In general, there was a very supporting attitude from the employers.
I believe £6.80 per hour is very fair for the work. Often, I had to take the train and also pay for my lunch. I do not feel these wage makes up for it, but I'm not complaining. It wasn't that bad of a strain on my wallet.
Not that I know of. While working, I did take pat in leisure in the activity room. It was very fun.
Yes
The company is very supportive. It's a very good environment, and there was a lot to do. It's a very good place to network and gain skills.
I would advice people to get the application process out of the way. In terms of interviews, I would tell people to be calm and have a set of notes. During the programme, I would suggest that people stay relaxed and open to communicate. I would have liked to have been told by someone to be confident when approaching people much earlier.
