I took part in the EY Smart Futures program. For the first week we were taught about the main service lines of the company, and completed our CMI management qualification. We also did a Dragon's Den style exercise. During the second week we did a business experience week, where we
I feel like I'm more confident when talking to other people and have developed my presentation skills. I've gained a management qualification and developed team work skills. I've also learnt about a lot about EY as a company.
I really, really enjoyed the programme, particularly the second week. It was a great opportunity to talk to different people from different backgrounds.
We were treated very well during the whole programme. and regularly checked up on by our buddies.
The induction was a good opportunity to get to know our colleagues. Overall, the programme was very well organised and we were well prepared for the week in business. I'd probably have preferred to spend longer working in business rather than the training section, but I understand this is necessary to learn all the required skills.
There was always someone to help with any problems and I felt very supported. Our buddies during the second week were really lovely and we felt very welcomed. I've learnt a lot about what their roles are and they were always open to questions.
EY have been very helpful with training us to make sure we had the right skills. Any problems were quickly dealt with and support was always available if you had any queries.
I am very surprised by the fact that there's a salary at all, as I feel like it's an experience you can learn so much from. It's helpful that lunch was provided for the first week, although the food in the second week was very affordable. The only thing that was a bit difficult was the travel costs, but this can be covered by the salary.
It's been good to expand my network and hopefully this will provide further opportunities. Also, the 10 month mentoring scheme will be helpful if I seek any advice or guidance.
Yes
It's a great opportunity to meet new people and gain an insight into a corporate environment. This is really helpful when thinking about career options. Everyone is extremely welcoming and friendly. Plus, the offices are stunning.
Try and talk to as many people as possible. Ask lots of questions and make use of the time there, because it passes so quickly. Regarding the application process, be certain to thoroughly check spelling and grammar. Do a bit of research about the company beforehand so you understand a bit about what it does for the interview.
