My time is split between practical workshop based training and college training where I am learning theory along side hands on tasks that will help with my job role when I head out into the business.
I have learnt hand fitting techniques that I had done some of but have now developed and learnt new ones of. I have also trained in electrical and electronics which I have shied away from in the past and have thoroughly enjoyed as part of this course. I will also learn techniques for my role when working on DAE and MMD.
I enjoy the programme thoroughly also it is very text heavy and being on a practical course that is what I tend to shy away from although I understand that it is an academic course and it is necessary.
I feel appreciated and have regular reports from tutors to let me know how I'm getting on and receive recognition when I do well.
The programme is in its infancy so there is some parts that are having to change and adapt as we go through, so I understand that the structure and organisation can be hard to achieve. I feel there is probably bits that could be better organised and a real idea on how the course is going to run from day one would be beneficial.
There is a huge amount of support and all tutors, college or business ones, I would feel comfortable going to with any issues. The attitude is they all want you to pass and do well, pushing every apprentice in the scheme.
I have an hour sit down support with my development leader every 12 weeks which helps point my apprenticeship in the right direction as well as extra support from training such as e-learning and trainer lead courses which illustrate how the business can support me throughout my employment.
My salary is tight but I new that from the start and made arrangements in my living costs to suit. It is one of the more well paid apprenticeships and each year it goes up so it is acceptable.
There are lots of opportunities to do extra events and volunteer for different initiatives. There are also plenty of social events organised by apprentices and we are encouraged to join business leisure clubs and events.

Set for life and has a good programmes where you can learn lots and has a huge amount of prestige.
Come to any event prior to your application you can. Try and join the young apprentice programme if you are of school age and do well in your GCSE's as maths, science and English do matter. The assessment day is rigorous and do as much preparation as you can for the interviews (they give you plenty of time).
