I am a practical advanced apprentice and my current daily job is testing the engines. My daily tasks involves docking the engine onto the bed, running the tests and de-rigging the engine. This type of job involves working within a team, however you all have your individual responsibilities when running the engine.
I have learnt many new skills since starting my practical apprenticeship. A few examples include:how to be confident when presenting presentations, hand fitting skills and organising projects.
I enjoy my programme as the employees and employers fully support apprentices to advance their knowledge and practical experiences.
As an apprentice you will feel extremely involved within the company as there is endless opportunities to become involved with projects inside and outside of work.
The induction and training when you join is amazing, it makes you feel part of the company and a valued member (even though you've only been there a few days). The structure of the programme is organised effectively to ensure you as an apprentice has the time to study for college, whilst allowing you to experience the workplace. The support from the managers is endless, as long as you show interest and enthusiasm, they are willing to support you the whole way.
The training provider will provide you will endless support throughout your entire apprenticeship, regardless of whether its a work or home issue.
The support and attitude from the employer, mentor and HR team is endless, regardless of the problem you have access to support and guidance.
Compared to other apprenticeships, the salary is amazing. Once the living, travel and daily costs have been paid, you are still left with a decent amount of money to have a social life.
There are many opportunities outside of work including: company events, leisure/ sport clubs and events/classes.

Since I joined at 16 years old, it is a great way to start your career, meet many new people and learn lots of skills.
Make sure you are fully prepared from the interview, and remember to stay calm, the interviewers are just normal people doing their job, they aren't there to scare you.
