My role changes every 6 months, giving me experience of HR, Marketing, Supply Chain and Sales within 2 years. This allows me to gain an enormous amount of varied experience in the business. I have personal objectives that I am responsible for meeting and exceeding. Daily tasks range between each department, but I have consistently had interaction internally and externally. My current role is in Supply Chain, where I manage customer orders and ensure seamless order to delivery.
I have learnt so many new skills, both personally and professionally. Not only will I gain a degree qualification in Professional Business Practice, I have been on several training programmes internally to assist my development further. I have grown so much in confidence because of this scheme that I wouldn't have done if I had taken the traditional University route.
The programme provides such varied experiences so I really enjoy the programme. It has exceeded all my expectations and I couldn't recommend it more.
Nestle makes me feel very valued, by investing in me as an Apprentice financially but also the time employees and managers take to help me with my development. There is a strong culture of internal recognition, with a lot of on going projects I am allowed to be involved in to increase my business awareness.
The programme is structured well: I spend a full week at University every 6/7 weeks which gives me enough time to complete a module before moving on to the next. The 6 month placements allow just enough time to feel I've made a difference in the role, with a lot of support from the Nestle Academy.
The University try and help where they can- they seem to understand the pressures of work and personal pressures too. It can be difficult doing distance learning, for example not being able to use the library facilities, however they make it work where they can.
There is a lot of support available- the Academy have a designated Pastoral Carer who is there if I need anything. I feel supported from my peers on the same programme also.
I currently live at home so the salary is fine- however, if I was to move out and rent I'm not sure the salary would be enough. On the other hand, other people have been able to manage to do this so I think it depends. Nestle do pay for my degree so I can't complain really!
Nestle have a Volunteering Scheme in the local community, however company events and classes are limited. I am involved in Charity work for Macmillan, Nestlé's charity of the year, so there are other opportunities. However I do think there could be more.
Yes
It's a great place to work with a massive focus on career development- I never thought I'd enjoy work so much but I do here! The roles allow for a great experience that I didn't think I would get at the age I am.
Make sure you pick out key words/traits/experiences the application process is looking for, and ensure you get this into your application! It will make you stand out and prove you're what Nestle are looking for. A top tip would be to be yourself- you need to be right for Nestle, but Nestle also needs to be right for you.
