My day to day role is to attend IPS International four days a week, and Mid Kent College one day a week. When attending IPS International, for each six week block we are training to learn on a specific unit under EAL, so working towards completion of the unit is how i spend my day to day duty. For Mid Kent College we work towards completing a Level 3 Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering.
Since starting the apprenticeship i have gained many various skills over the course, and i have developed my confidence hugely both for my self and also showing confidence in my work.
I am very happy being in this apprenticeship, it is a huge pleasure to get up in the morning and be going to a job that i love.
I feel very valued by BAE Systems, they are very caring thoughtful and supportive to every apprentice. They make me feel like i am worth the money and their time of getting through their selection process and being apart of their company.
The structure of our three year apprenticeship is organised and structured in to years. For example the first year is training at two colleges, our second year we return for on site training, and our third year is further training within one specific department, also while still attending Mid Kent College once a week.
From our training providers at IPS International we receive so much help and support especially from our designated trainers as well as from other tutors.
We receive a lot of support from our employers, we have a 12 week review so they can check our progress after each two units to ensure we are making good progress, also we stay in contact with our employers closely to give them reports on how both colleges are going, and any problems that occur are rectified by our employer.
My apprenticeship wage covers my costs effectively and i can afford to live and have a social life and enjoy life with what i earn.
BAE Systems offer a lot of opportunities outside of work for everyone within the company and it is nice as a young apprentice to be offered the same opportunities.
Yes
It is a wonderful company to be apart of and they can offer a lot to you. Also the pension scheme is brilliant, they offer shares and healthcare.
Only apply if you are really determined to succeed and excel by being a BAE apprentice, it can be challenging and therefore you will have to be 100% motivated and show determination to the employer at your interview to be successful.
