The Moment Banker role involves seeing customer on a daily basis via the form of appointments or walk ins, I am a trusted guide for the customers and provide them with all the information they need to make an informed decision on products or services. I open new accounts for customer, provide customers with various forms of credit ie loans/ credit cards which is best for their situation, everyday I set aside time to call customers aswell as lots of other things.
I have definitely developed my customer service skills since starting with Barclays, especially so in this last year since I stopped working on the counter and started training for my Moment Banker position which went from short conversations with lots of customers to longer conversations with fewer customers. My general English and maths skills have developed from constant use of these in my day to day working career.
I enjoy my apprenticeship programme as it provides me with more of a background knowledge for the tasks I regularly carry out at work making it easier as things tend to make sense more. I do find however sometimes that i'm working the same amount as every other colleague but still have more work to do for my apprenticeship after the day has finished.
I feel valued by Barclays as they put me forward for my progression into this new role as well as provided me with lots of support going into the role. I get treated the same as every other colleague and don't get singled out for doing an apprenticeship, I feel like Barclays want me to do better and will support me with whatever I choose to do.
It is set into different modules on Tesselo which have due dates giving me a structured approach of what work I need to complete and when it needs to be done by. This allows me to build up my knowledge in an order that it all flows nicely one into another.
My training provider provides me with help whenever I need it in regards to my work but lets me get on with the work that I know I can do without his help. I know that if I needed help with any aspect of my apprenticeship or work in general that I could call or email him for this.
If I ask my managers or colleagues for support with my apprenticeship then I know they will help me in any way that they can, for example when I was preparing for my Level 2 interview my managers spent hours with my practicing interview tips and helping me with my examples.
My salary equals just under £11 an hour which is very high for an apprentice considering the minimm wage is around £3.90. This is beacause I receive a full wage from Barclays which allows me to afford my car, petrol, parking and living consists each month aswell as save up for my first home.
I am unsure of the question. I have ample opporutnites outside of work to complete my usual hobbies and continue living my life. My apprenticeship work takes up some of my time however I stil make sure I have enough free time to do what I want to do outside of work.
Yes
It is a fun working environment which helps you to develop your knowledge of the banking world and helps with improving your own personal finance due to the training available aswell as seeing multiple different customers situations so no two days are the same. there is lots of scope for progressions aswell aslong as you work hard towards it.
Don't panic when you get the job, it is overwhelming for the first 6 months (atleast!) and takes time to get into the swing of things but it is worth it once you do. Be hoenst about where you struggle as it is easier to get support early on than struggle due to embarrassment.
