I was working in a team called the Energy Optimisation Practice and I was given the task of building a professional networking SharePoint site for them.
I learnt how to work under a manager and how to keep them updated of my progress. It was challenging for me to remember to keep a written log of everything so that others could see how much progress I had made.
I enjoy it a lot as it gives me ample ways to network with colleagues and gives me something interesting to do during the summer weeks.
EY have been very accomodating with their arrangements, designing team training, partner shadowing and other activities for us.
The program is structured enough so there is no confusion yet flexible enough to allow me to have a choice of tasks to complete.
I received a lot of support throughout the program, when I was stuck on tasks or even didnt know where to go. I also had a counsellor who helped me achieve my goals for the internship.
EY provides a lot of support, with a buddy and counsellor system as well as help from my manager and the recruitment team so I always have someone to help me.
The salary package is very generous, especially the bursary. Travel can be expensive but the renumeration provided covers this.
Often teams have networking occasions and the interns also meet for regular meals or drinks. There is plenty of occasion to build a network and get to know your peers.
