I am a Learning and Development advisor which means I coordinate all training courses, management and basic, across the sites. I organise delegates and send out communications for their courses as well as organising trainers, materials, catering and rooms. I also manage the work experience programme and planning student placements. I send out regular reports to management about employees completion of their goals and track and chase those who haven't completed the correct online steps on time.
I have developed and further my communication skills on a daily basis, communicating with all levels of employees, including senior management. I have also greatly developed my organisation and prioritisation skills.
I love working for Vauxhall and the job roles themselves, however, the college side of the apprenticeship is much less enjoyable.
I feel that I am valued within my team and department and feel comfortable expressing my views and opinions.
In terms of the work place, day to day activities, this is handled well and is well structured for me as I know what I am doing. However, there has been lots of changes over the short 2 years I have been here which have not been very organised or well communicated at all.
We do not receive very much support at all from the college and are left to our own devices to complete our work much of the time.
I receive a great deal of support from my employer, especially my manager who encourages me and pushes me to always be better. I feel my career goals are taken into consideration.
Considering I am an apprentice, the wage is good compared to most other companies.
There are some opportunities to get involved with events outside of work.
Yes
It is a great company to work for and gives you a huge amount of experience that you can take with you anywhere.
Be willing to learn and try new things and always talk to your manager or HR for support with anything you need. Really show yourself off to the best of your ability and you will be noticed and remembered.
