I am currently a Motability Analyst working in Fleet Sales at Vauxhall - Of which is essentially our disabled car scheme with only a small team of 3. It is a very niche department in the sense that all marketing, finance and day to day running is done through us entirely. It allows to get a good overview of different skills and aspects.
Various skills have both been learnt and developed on. At the beginning of my year in Motability, I was accredited as a Motability Specialist which took place over the space of a one day training course. Along with this, I have trained to become an Excel trainer within the organisation ranging from both Beginner and Advanced. Other than qualifications, skills such as maturity, time management, attention to detail and confidence have all been developed on.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme as a whole. I enjoy the work side as I feel you are treated as a mature individual rather than the perception of apprentices that I had beforehand. All 3 teams that I have worked in throughout my time have all been good as have felt valued and part of the team in all areas. In terms of the qualification side, the ability to go to college and get qualifications in the background is highly appealing and I very much enjoy the programme.
Adecco take time to ensure that we are all getting on and doing okay in each of our individual roles which helps to feel more valued within the organisation as well as just part of our own teams. Unfortunately, because there is so many apprentices, sometimes it can be difficult to arrange forums and meetings so that everyone can voice their opinions which can sometimes lead to people bottling issues up. However, there is always someone to speak to and any issues are sorted very quickly to ensure that people are as happy as possible at work.
In terms of rotations and college, I think the programme is fairly well structured as we know that we have day release for college every week and we also know the time of year when rotations are approaching. So, everything is kept very clear and structured. However, the idea of the mentor programme doesn't work overly well as some mentors are too busy to have regular meetings and sometimes there isn't much to speak about. Besides this factor, I believe that the apprenticeship programme as a whole is fairly well organised and structured.
The support from our college is not great and hasn't been throughout the entirety of our 3 years there. Unfortunately there is quite a high staff turnover which means that we don't ever tend to have one tutor for the whole of a year. The marking work side has got significantly better throughout our 3 year as we have had new tutors, meaning that i enjoy college a lot more now than previously as we feel more valued.
There is a lot more support provided from our employer than our college which is to be expected. Personally, all of my managers have been attentive and always wanted to ensure that I am getting the best out of my year to try and get me involved in things I find interesting. The HR team are also attentive when it comes to any queries or issues that may arise as they are quick to try and erase any issues.
I am personally always content with the amount of salary that we earn as it covers all expenses that are required. For me, this is mainly my car and my rent. I can always afford to go out socially and do things that I enjoy to do i.e. Holidays and weekends away without having to worry that I don't have enough money. I think that for the jobs we do, we earn very good money considering that we also are working towards a degree alongside earning money.
Whether or not there are company events depends on the department you work in. As personally, for the first 2 years of my apprenticeship, I didn't leave the office. However, in my current year there are weekend events at Motability events all across the country which is good to get involved in. Socially there are lots of opportunities are it is a very sociable company where there are lots of nights out and dinners to attend which helps to get to know people around the organisation.
Yes
I have had a very good experience of working for Adecco so I would always highly recommend it to anyone. Whether it was doing an apprenticeship or working full time for them. As mentioned they are very attentive and there is always someone there to listen to any issues or just to have a chat!
The main thing I found to be important is to educate yourself on the organisation before you apply or attend any assessment days/interviews as it is good to show you know your facts about the company. If there are any chances to get out of the office and attend any events, it is always good to accept it as you might not get that throughout the whole of your programme so it it is good to get involved in it while you can.
