I work as a HR Business Partner for Supply Chain, Press and Factory General Units. I manage absence; handle disciplinary cases up to and including dismissal; deal with grievances; present absence figures to directors; advise managers and participate in recruitment for my units. I also manage the agency on site. Daily interactions are typically with Trade Union members, HR personnel; OH personnel; executives, managers and supervisors. Externally, I interact with the agency on a daily basis.
I have developed my interpersonal skills and the way in which I handle conflict. I am also studying a CIPD Level 5 Diploma in which I am due to complete in summer. Overall, I have learned a lot about the business, the HR profession and employment law.
I enjoy the job that I do and work within a supportive, helpful team. The company culture is friendly and welcoming and helped me to settle in well.
I feel as though my manager appreciates the things that I do. I do not believe that there is a lot of internal or external reward or recognition and I feel as though I am not valued by the company as I have not received a yearly pay increment which I am entitled to and I believe that I have the same responsibilities as the other people in my team but I am paid a lot less money than they are.
I am studying towards a Level 5 Diploma in College, however, I do not really think that there is a set programme for me- if there is, it has never been shared with me. I do get support from my manager and team where it is needed. With regards to task delegation, I do the same tasks independently as other people do in my team who aren't apprentices.
I believe that the quality of teaching is poor- tutors are disorganised and it takes a long time to get feedback on work.
I do receive support from my manager and other members of my team. They are willing to help and guide with problems.
I do not believe that the salary is fair. I have the same responsibilities as the other members of my team, however, I am paid a lot less than they are. I have also not received a yearly increment that I am entitled to. The National living cost has risen, however, the apprenticeship wage has not.
The team complete a CSR activity once a year, for example, last year we went to Birkenhead park to create facilities for children to attend forest school. This involved things such as building an Amphitheatre. Outside work, we had a Christmas meal, however, this had to be organized by ourselves. Other than that , I have not been invited to any company events.

Dependent on the type of work that they would like to do, Vauxhalls has a friendly, inclusive culture and is a nice place to work.
You need to sell your competencies on the application form and back this up with experience in the interview. Assessment days help you to get a feel for the company and help you to know whether or not you would be a cultural fit.
