I am a laboratory science apprentice, in cell and gene therapy. My daily tasks vary, as they could range from taking my study day or spending the full day in the labs working on experiments. My responsibilities are limited as I am still learning although despite this I am still able to independently carry out various experiments.
I am in the process of completing a foundation degree. What's more there are a range of different opportunities within GSK to broaden my knowledge, for example going to conferences. Or simply doing a training course to learn how to use certain equipment in the labs.
I very much enjoy the programme I am on. Not only is the work that I do different and exciting, but I am very interested in the degree course I am completing. In addition, everyone in my team is very friendly and welcoming, I have also made many friends in the short time being here. It exceeded my expectations.
I feel very valued by GSK. I have been praised for all my efforts and am always being given feedback, even if not necessarily great. I feel valued as whenever I have gone to my manager with a problem he has helped me work through it to come out better.
It could be organised slightly better. The foundations of the apprenticeship are good, for example connections with very good universities and other support systems that are available to us all. Although at times the communication between my employer and my university could be improved.
I feel very supported from my training provider as we are able to access all the resources that a normal university student would. Although at times it feels that due to us not being on site (at university) we are considered a low priority.
I feel very supported by everyone here at GSK. I am able to go to anyone with any queries I may have and people are always willing to help.
Very well.
Yes, there are many opportunities for example conferences or volunteering days that GSK will fully support.
Yes
It is a good company to work for both in the short term and long term. The opportunities within GSK are so broad and everyone within is very knowledgeable therefore making you feel welcome and safe at all times.
Take your time, and research the company and the role you are applying for. It is important that you know what you are going in to and will stand out if you are able to show the interviewers that you care about what you are applying for.
