My role in Barclays is an apprentice telephony banker. On a day to day basis My main role is to answer and solve our customer inquiries over the phone. I do this by continually upgrading my knowledge around Barclays products and procedures with the help of my line manager and internal databases.
I have learned a lot of new skills while doing my apprenticeship at Barclays. I have learned how to navigate computers more efficiently. I have also made great progress on my communication skills, typing skills and time management skills. I am developing new skills all the time for instance working around internet explorer with greater ease and Microsoft outlook to send and receive emails.
I enjoy my programme very much. I am continuously learning new things everyday in my apprenticeship. I believe I am growing my knowledge in the banking industry everyday and I believe I have a great future ahead of me thanks to my Apprenticeship with Barclays and Capita. The NVQ is really well spaced out and is not overwhelming as I have plenty of time to finish each module and I also have a lot of assistance if I require any.
I feel extremely valued by Barclays. I have never done any type of apprenticeship in the banking industry before and I feel Barclays has my well-being at the forefront of what they do. I know throughout my apprenticeship that Barclays offer me great training and push me to achieve my best results, and help me grow on a professional level.
My programme is very well organised. The modules are well spaced out so I don't feel under pressure and rushed to get my NVQ finished each time I have a review. I receive great training from my coach [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions], and if I need any help or advice I know she is only a phone call away. Each module is different than the last but all of it is related to my role at Barclays, helping me along in my Barclays career. I am really pleased with my decision to take the apprenticeship route and when I have finished this part of it I would like to go into a higher apprenticeship in the future if I secure a full time role in Barclays.
My training support provider is [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] and I receive more support than I probably deserve. Joanna is fantastic as a training provider, she is always there when I need anything. I can contact [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] by email any time I need anything and I always get a fast response. [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is always willing to stay behind with me and my apprentice team even if it is late at night when we have finished our class. If I am struggling on any modules I ask Joanna and she always guides me and helps me find the knowledge I require to progress through the modules on my NVQ. I am extremely great full to have my coach because she is fantastic in her role and a shining example for Capita, and the service Capita provides.
I receive great support from my Employer. Barclays know that my role is as much as a team effort as it is an individual one. If I need any help in my call work my team leader [This section of the comment has been removed by a member of the RateMyApprenticeship Team because it did not meet our site terms and conditions] is always willing to help. I receive sufficient time off from the phone to complete a good part of my NVQ and also any in-house training that may be required from me. I also receive buzz sessions with my team leader and team to help to help me progress as a moment banker. I could not ask for any more support from Barclays.
Being an apprentice I expect my salary to be quite low. I think the salary offered by Barclays is excellent for an apprentice. In my case being more established in life with my family and having a mortgage money is a bit tight but I can live off it if quite comfortably by budgeting correctly. I have no complaints because I know not many companies would offer someone of my age a second chance of a new and exciting career whilst getting paid for the privilege of achieving it.
I think now that I have joined Barclays and I am gaining more knowledge every day within the banking industry I think there will be tons of opportunities available for me in the future. A lot of the things I am learning through Barclays and Capita can be transferred to different companies as a lot of the practices I am learning are not just tied into the Banking community. Before I joined Barclays there was not many opportunities available for me to choose from as the industry I was previously working in is pretty much over and it was not transferable to many other industries. I believe once I finish my apprenticeship i will be able to find work anywhere if I choose to leave and it is Capita and Barclays in which I am grateful to for giving me these opportunities if I decide to move on.
Yes
I would recommend Barclays to a friend only if they have the drive and determination to strive for a career. In my opinion Barclays is not just a job it is a career as the people in Barclays push you to achieve success and commit a great deal of resources to me as an individual. If you just want to pick up a pay packet I do not believe Barclays would be the right place to work in. Part of the excitement at working in Barclays is the fact that you learn new things everyday but you have to be willing to do this.
Anyone applying to Barclays, if they have no previous experience in the banking industry I would advise them to seek out any Capita apprenticeships available as I believe this would be the best route into gaining employment within Barclays. I believe the training and support offered by Capita is extremely valuable and if you are willing to learn and adapt your way of thinking then I believe Capita prepares you for your new working career in Barclays much more than just turning up for an interview at Barclays. I would also let people know that Barclays is more than just a job, it is a career so the person who is applying should be dedicated to their role and not just treat is as another job. The great thing about Barclays is all the opportunities available if you are dedicated and a team player.
