Currently undertaking a Business Improvement role in order to complete my Green Belt improvement project. This project is inventory based so capturing the locations of the work-in-progress parts and any non-conformance 'dropouts' is a daily task.
Vast improvement in IT skills due to the particular improvement project I'm delivering. General role responsibilities of colleagues and when to utilise their knowledge for problem solving activities.
I have so far managed to undertake my mandated trainee roles in different areas of the business (both regarding what parts are made there and the geographical location). I have much enjoyed the experience of working in these diverse environment.
Knowing the monetary value of the education they're providing me with via a university degree and the overall levels of responsibility I'm given in my different roles I do feel valued by the company.
My programme is highly self driven and there is onus on us to find placements ourselves, but there is a support network to help if needed with this.
My course manager has one-to-one sessions with me every 6-8 weeks to check-up on my progress both with my work and university studies. If there are any problems there is a guaranteed face-to-face session that I can use to discuss these.
There are support function available and we have mandated training to make us aware of there functions and how we can contact then if need be.
Having relocated for my programme I am able to live comfortably on my currently salary; house sharing (renting), food bills etc aren't a problem.
There is an Apprentice & Graduate Association that runs events for employees in my age group and the company has a high involvement with running STEM activities in the local area especially.

The breadth of jobs available in an engineering capacity and the general working atmosphere I've experience while working for the company.
Make sure the course you're applying for is the right one to suit your skills and interests as there are a number to choose from and do at least some basic research on the company before any interviews.
