My role is to learn what it is my team does and support them wherever I can. This can vary from producing documents to hosting a presentation or even doing some testing. I interact with lots of people in my team daily to ensure the knowledge I gain is accurate and will help me produce better work. I have been able to work on multiple projects during my time so far and have received lots of help whenever I have asked. I author and review documents for the project I am most heavily involved in, as well as provide assistance whenever I can. These documents vary from initiation documents, to finance spreadsheets, to risk reviews.
I have learned an unbelievable amount so far, both personal skills and technical. My software skills have developed massively but I think my networking skills have been the best improvement. This means I am able to talk to a wide variety of different people in different teams confidently. I have been provided different training courses here to ensure I am constantly widening my knowledge. These courses include, Communication, SharePoint, and even Driving.
I thoroughly enjoy my programme and I am sure it was the best decision I could have made. I have a great relationship with everyone at work and my fellow Degree Apprentices are great. I have definitely found life long friends here and it is easy to get through any rough patches I have found myself in. I was very anxious to go into a corporate job so young but I think I settled in quickly and enjoy coming into work.
My managers and peers give me great praise whenever possible. I really feel like part of the company and my ideas are always heard. I am trained appropriately and trusted with manageable work, this ensures I am given challenging work that allows me to prove myself.
Being the first year to do this, we were a little bit trial and error but we were given great support. The induction prepared us for our career in SSE and allowed us to build strong team relationships. This has allowed us to help suggest different ways of doing things comfortably.
Any time I have had to receive help, someone has answered. People here have also helped me with my university work too, and if they can't then they point me in the right direction.
Our manager is great and listens to anything we have to say to ensure our experience is great. I have received a lot of guidance about my learning here and preparation for my future career.
I am happy with my salary
There are lots of different opportunities, one I am involved in is 5 a side football arranged amongst the Degree Apprentices and Grads. The social life here is great and my peers are happy to go out at the weekend.
