Yes
We are given great opportunities. The firm is big enough to have great exposure, but we're still able to be recognised as people.
I found the application process quite easy, it is important for your CV to be up to date. Show your relevant experience in the application and apply it to you prospective job. When you come for your interview, make sure you're dressed appropriately, and practice your handshake. It really does make a difference if you're dressed smart. Act confidently. We work closely with clients, and it's important to show your personality to the recruiter. At the assessment days you will be expected to interact with other people. Don't 'overshadow' other people, but do speak up and show your opinion. I had two interviews, which were competency based, so I would advise that any applicant comes prepared to be able to apply relevant experience to the different competency questions. Relevant experience can come from part time/full time jobs, working in teams, sports/music clubs. Make sure you do your research! Google provides many helpful tips and details of Grant Thornton and other firms. Understand what we do and who we work for. All research shows that you're actively engaged with Grant Thornton and keen to understand more about us. It is important that you understand our brand promise and our position in the market, and the benefits of our position in the market. Understand the meaning of 'instinct for growth' and how this can be applied to Grant Thornton and our clients. Never be afraid to ask questions. When working in tax, you need to ask yourself 'why?', and it encourages you to think about the wider picture and the further implications of why certain decisions are made.
