I'm a Homecare Marketing apprentice so I get to do a lot of creative tasks such as working with external digital and marketing agency's, as well working with a range a people internally. A large part of my role is invoicing, this is important as it insures that all our suppliers get paid on time,I also do other tasks on a range of brands, this can be anything from kick starting the process for getting product in store to creating vouchers.
I have learnt lots of new skills, the most useful and transferable would probably be the training I've had on invoicing and data systems such as Nielsen's, BAPS, Ariba and Kantar.
I very much enjoy this program as it give you an amazing early chance in a work environment. It is had work and you need to put a lot of effort in but its very rewarding and has more experiences then I expected.
I do feel valued as everyone has a part to play to making a team successful, I do get more responsibility then I expected I would have before joining.
I would definitely say that the training offered is a positive as I can easily book training for a range of topics, as part of the apprenticeship program we are allowed time to complete course work during work hours.
I often have meetings with my training provider to go over what needs to be completed and to answer any questions, I also have there email so if its urgent then I can let them know. only negative is that the tracking system isn't updated that often so it doesn't look like I've completed as much work as I have done.
I would say that I receive enough support both from my team/ manager as well as the apprenticeship provider. I have any question or issues I feel like it is answered/ resolved quickly.
I feel very lucky about my costs as I only live around 30 minutes away and I'm still 17 with makes it difficult to spend much money. this is great as it gives me the opportunity to save for the future.
there has been lots of company events in my first 7 mounts at Unilever such as team away days and I was once very lucky to go to the O2 on a team day to see Bastille.
Yes
It is a great opportunity for young people that are keen to experience the working world and also a great alternative to university. I personally started after GCSE's and would encourage people to consider it sooner.
My top tips for the application process would be 1) mention your previous experiences as this could set you aside from the other applicants, 2) be confident and show your a team player 3)be yourself.
