Job title: R&D apprentice chemistry. Day-to-day role involves aiding the chemistry department using high end analytical equipment and desk based work for data interpretation
Nearly completed Bsc in Chemistry. Developed skills in operating instruments, building upon my confidence in the workplace. Internal training to aid the job role
The apprenticeship met my expectations, learning about topics at university which filled the knowledge gaps needed when working on various projects. I enjoyed the apprenticeship but felt like more it could be more structured with planned work rotations to get a better overall experience.
Very, both managerial and internal recognition has been good. Feel thoroughly involved with tasks and projects. GEneral support of my overall career is also a consideration.
My specific programme was created with a specific job role in mind. Neglecting the option to rotate around the various departments within R&D. I've been trained in a niche area, rather than gaining a broader experience
Have been supplied with a tutor for any questions or issues/ Support is very accessible, most lecturers have an open door policy regarding questions about a topic.
Colleagues generally have PhDs in the topic which you are struggling with so its very easy to find help. My manager is also very helpful if I'm having difficulty understanding a topic.
The salary package covers my living, travel, daily and social costs with some left over for savings. The location is quite far away from most towns (~30mins) and the nearest town is a commuter town to London so the living costs can be quite expensive
Many voluntary opportunities such as national science week. Sorts and social club on site with various activities. Not many company events or activities which I have been a part of.

Learn about the company beforehand and think about specific experiences in your life which could give evidence for a certain skill, eg. leadership.
