Currently, the apprenticeship is college based only with occasional visits to work during academic holidays. In the business, I will be a wind service technician, maintaining and servicing wind turbine generators.
Developed practical electrical and mechanical skills and procedures, learnt new theory involving electrical and mechanical work.
Very enjoyable so far. Good mixture of hands on and practical learning. Feel that I will enjoy it for the foreseeable future.
Very valued. There are good benefits for all SSE employees but as an apprenctice we are very well looked after and have access to a range of support and help.
Well structured. College to begin with to gain qualifications and make learning in the business more beneficial.
I receive lots of support. Regular review visits and contact with support staff whenever required.
Lots of support. Employer and college have very good communication and regularly share review visits and progress reports.
Current (first year) Salary meets my costs relatively well. Upon completing apprenticeship salary will be excellent for my age group.
Currently as I am at college and staying away from home, there is a big opportunity to socialise with other apprentices and make new friends.
Yes
So far they are a very good employer. We are looked after and treated fairly. There is lots of progression opportunity within the company.
